The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the State of Louisiana actively promotes our national and state heritage through historic preservation, patriotic service and educational projects.

Louisiana is proud to have four properties included in Great American Treasures, a curated collection of historic sites. In addition, Louisiana House, a 19th century home in New Orleans, serves as our Society headquarters.

We perform a Parade of Flags presentation depicting our country’s history through its flags, as well as a variety of programs honoring our military past and present, and welcoming new citizens.

Programs include an essay contest for high schoolers, a variety of scholarships promoting the study of American history, and educational lectures for our membership.

Founded in 1896 by 12 visionary women, we are one of 44 corporate societies that comprise The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America. Our headquarters is in New Orleans, with Town Committees in Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Monroe, and Shreveport.
